The North-East of Tassie is all about embracing a different pace... finding little hidden gems along the (very) winding roads. Tiny towns with a big heart and some of the most photogenic locations you'll come across in Tassie.
Home to Tassie's premier mountain biking destination is the little town of Derby, a vibrant community with plenty to enjoy for everyone including the floating sauna on Lake Derby. There are so many little side adventures beconing as you take the winding roads - a side trip to St Columba Falls will take you past the delightful Pyengana Dairy door and the iconic Pub in the Paddock. Take a turn at Branxholm and you'll discover Mt Paris Dam, its steep walls rising from deep within the forrest. A meandering drive along the Pipers River will see you enter 'Sparkling Tasmania', where you can call in to the cellar doors of Pipers Brook, House of Arras and our personal favourite, Jansz. In January it is an absolute must to call into Bridstowe Lavender Estate to be delighted by the sea of purple flowers during thier festival of flowers, it is absolutely spectacular. |
